Bilstein B14 Suspension Set — 47-127708
Collection:

Audi A3 Shock Absorbers & Suspension

Suspension for the Audi A3 across its generations, from Bilstein and Tein. Bilstein B4 and B6 cover standard ride height, B12 kits and Tein S.Tech springs lower the car, and B14, B16, Tein Street Advance Z and Flex Z coilovers give adjustable ride height. Parts are matched by chassis code and build year, not by model name.

Which variants this covers

The A3 has been sold as a three-door hatch, a five-door Sportback, a saloon and a cabriolet, across successive generations that share a name but little hardware. Front-wheel-drive and quattro cars differ, and cars ordered with S line sports suspension use their own part numbers. This page covers the model as a whole; for the 8V generation specifically, see A3 8V suspension.

Choosing between the ranges

Bilstein B4 is the OE-comparable replacement and the largest group here — standard height, original springs, factory ride restored. Bilstein B6 is firmer at the same height for tighter body control. Tein EnduraPro is the alternative to B6, with EnduraPro Plus adding 16 damping levels you can set after fitting. Bilstein B8 is a shortened damper for cars already lowered by around 30–40 mm — it is the wrong part at standard height. To lower a standard car, Bilstein B12 supplies dampers and springs matched as a kit, and Tein S.Tech springs drop it on the existing dampers. B14, B16, Street Advance Z and Flex Z cover adjustable height.

What to check before ordering

Front and rear dampers are listed separately and should be replaced in axle pairs. Strut support bearings and protection kits are worth renewing at the same time — a perished bearing knocks and a collapsed bump stop shortens the life of a new damper. Have the alignment checked afterwards. On the A3, quattro cars use a different rear axle arrangement from front-wheel-drive cars, so confirm drivetrain as well as chassis code.

Common questions for this chassis

Can I use one generation's dampers on another? No. Select by chassis code and build year — the A3 generations do not share struts.

Do I need a kit or just springs? If the dampers are healthy, S.Tech springs are enough. If they are worn, a B12 kit replaces both properly.

Is S line suspension different? Yes — sports suspension cars take their own part numbers.
