This page spans the A4 from B5 to B9, in saloon and Avant bodies, in both front-wheel drive and quattro. The chassis codes are 8D, 8E, 8K and 8W, and each takes its own struts. Choosing between the ranges

The A4 is unusually well covered for matched kits: Bilstein B12 is one of the largest groups here, pairing shortened dampers with lowering springs so the two are designed together. At standard height, Bilstein B6 and Bilstein B4 are both stocked in depth — B4 restores the factory ride, B6 is the firmer option for sharper control. Tein EnduraPro is the alternative to B6 on OE height. Bilstein B8 is a shortened damper intended only for cars already lowered by roughly 30–40 mm, not for standard ride height. Tein S.Tech springs lower a car on healthy original dampers, and B14 and B16 coilovers allow ride height to be set directly.

What to check before ordering

Front and rear are separate listings and should be replaced in axle pairs. Strut support bearings and protection kits are worth doing at the same time — both are consumables and both shorten a new damper's life if left worn. Align the car afterwards. The A4 caveat: quattro and front-wheel-drive cars use different front struts, and Avant rear parts differ from the saloon, so confirm body and drivetrain together.
