Which variants this covers
Three generations sit here, and one distinction outweighs every other: the E87 and F20 drive their rear wheels, the F40 drives its front ones. That is a different car beneath the same badge, with unrelated geometry and hardware. M Sport specification alters part numbers again, and xDrive versions take their own front struts. Read the chassis code first.
Choosing between the ranges
This is the broadest selection of any page of its size, so the sensible order is to decide the ride height before the brand. Staying standard, Bilstein B4 reinstates factory damping and Bilstein B6 — almost as deeply stocked — sharpens it without dropping the car; Tein EnduraPro and EnduraPro Plus cover the same brief. Going lower, Pro-Kit springs are the measured option and Sportline the more severe one, both working with existing dampers. B12 Pro-Kit and B12 Sportline supply those springs already matched to B8 dampers, and B12 Pro-Kit Damptronic does the same for cars with electronic damping control. B8 alone belongs only under an already-lowered car. Pro-Street-S, Pro-Street-Multi and Street Advance Z adjust height, with a Pro-Tronic controller and an Anti-Roll-Kit listed too.
What to check before ordering
Work one axle at a time, renew protection kits, and set geometry afterwards. The decisive check on this model is drive layout: an F40 part will not serve an E87 or F20 and the reverse holds equally, so confirm whether yours drives the front or rear wheels before reading any listing.
Common questions for this chassis
Is the F40 really different? Fundamentally. It is front-driven where the earlier cars were rear-driven.
Pro-Kit or Sportline springs? Pro-Kit for a measured drop, Sportline when you want considerably lower.
My car has electronic damping — what fits? The B12 Pro-Kit Damptronic package is built for exactly that.
