Which models this covers
The catalogue runs across the 1, 3 and 5 Series and their estate, coupé and cabriolet bodies, in both rear-wheel drive and xDrive. Deeper pages exist for the 3 Series, 5 Series, 1 Series and the 3 Series E90 generation specifically. Because parts are chassis-matched, an E46 and an E90 never share a listing by accident.
Choosing between the ranges
BMW is the one make where Bilstein B6 nearly matches Bilstein B4 in depth, which reflects how these cars are bought. B4 is the OE-comparable replacement that restores the factory ride; B6 is firmer at the same height, with tighter body control for harder driving. Tein EnduraPro covers the same ground as B6, and EnduraPro Plus adds 16 damping levels you can set after fitting. Bilstein B8 is shortened and suits only cars already lowered by about 30–40 mm. For lowering a standard car, Bilstein B12 is a matched damper-and-spring kit and Tein S.Tech springs work with the original dampers. B14, B16, Street Advance Z and Flex Z cover adjustable ride height.
What to check before ordering
Front and rear are separate listings; fit in axle pairs, renew strut bearings and protection kits at the same time, and align afterwards. The BMW caveat is optional suspension: M Sport cars use their own part numbers, xDrive cars take different front struts from rear-wheel-drive cars of the same generation, and Touring models with self-levelling rear suspension differ again.
Common questions for this make
Will parts carry between generations? No. E36, E46, E90, F30 and G20 all use different struts — select by chassis code.
B4 or B6? B4 returns the car to standard. B6 is the firmer choice if the standard setup has always felt soft.
Does M Sport suspension change the part? Yes, on most models. Check the build rather than the model name.
