Which models this covers
Small hatches through to commercial vans are included, spanning the ST performance variants as well as standard cars. Deeper pages exist for the Fiesta, Focus, Mondeo and Transit. Van applications differ sharply from cars — payload rating changes the damper specification, so a Transit listing is never interchangeable with a car part.
Choosing between the ranges
Bilstein B4 is the largest group and the OE-comparable replacement: standard height, original springs, factory ride restored. Bilstein B6 is close behind and is firmer at the same height — the better choice for an ST or for a Focus or Fiesta driven hard. Tein EnduraPro is the Tein alternative on OE height, with EnduraPro Plus adding 16 damping levels. Bilstein B8 is a shortened damper for cars already lowered by roughly 30–40 mm and is the wrong part at standard height. To lower a standard car, Bilstein B12 supplies a matched kit and Tein S.Tech springs drop it on existing dampers. B14 and Street Advance Z cover adjustable height.
What to check before ordering
Front and rear are separate listings; fit in axle pairs and align afterwards. Strut support bearings and protection kits are worth renewing with the dampers — on small cars used in town they wear faster than the damper itself. The Ford caveat is load rating: Transit and other van applications are specified by payload, and fitting a lighter-rated damper to a heavily loaded van will not last.
Common questions for this make
Do ST models use different parts? Yes — sports suspension has its own part numbers.
Can I use a car damper on a Transit? No. Van dampers are rated for payload and are not interchangeable.
What restores a tired Focus most cheaply? B4 dampers with new bearings and protection kits.
