Which variants this covers

Six generations are listed, spanning hatchbacks, saloons and the Type R models, and they divide into two quite different front suspension designs. The earlier cars use double wishbones; the later ones use a conventional strut. Parts do not cross that divide, and nor do they cross generations within it. The Civic Type R has its own page. Bilstein and Tein coverage here is almost equal, which is unusual.

Choosing between the ranges

At standard ride height, Bilstein B4 is the OE-comparable replacement that restores the factory ride, and Bilstein B6 — the largest group here — is firmer for sharper body control. Tein EnduraPro covers the same ground, with EnduraPro Plus adding 16 adjustable damping levels. To lower a car on healthy dampers, Tein S.Tech springs are the most stocked option; Bilstein B12 supplies dampers and springs matched as a kit. Bilstein B8 is shortened and belongs only on a car already lowered by roughly 30–40 mm. For adjustable height the Tein coilovers dominate — Flex Z, Street Advance Z and the entry-level Street Basis Z — with Bilstein B14 alongside and Mono Sport and Mono Racing for track use.

What to check before ordering

Front and rear are separate parts and should be fitted in axle pairs, then aligned. Renew strut bearings and protection kits at the same time. The Civic-specific trap is that front suspension design change: a double-wishbone car and a strut car of similar age take entirely different front components, and the model name alone will not tell you which you have. Confirm by chassis code.

Common questions for this chassis

Will EP3 parts fit an FK? No. They are different generations and, in the front, different suspension designs altogether.

Why so much Tein on this page? Tein's coilover and spring coverage for the Civic is as deep as Bilstein's damper coverage, so both are well represented.

Cheapest way to lower a Civic? S.Tech springs, if the dampers are still in good order.
