Which variants this covers
Four generations are listed, covering both body styles and including the MPS performance models, all front-wheel drive. The BK and BL cars are now old enough that condition varies enormously between otherwise identical examples, while the BM and BP are closer to modern cars in both weight and spring rate. Pick by chassis code; the generations overlap by registration year.
Choosing between the ranges
There is no Bilstein coverage for the Mazda 3 at present, so every option here comes from the Tein catalogue. For a car whose dampers are simply worn out, EnduraPro replaces them at the original height with slightly firmer valving than standard, and EnduraPro Plus does the same with sixteen levels of adjustment you can set once the car is back together. S.Tech springs are the straightforward route to a lower car and keep the existing dampers in place, which only works while those still have life in them. If you want control over the height itself, Street Advance Z is the better-equipped street coilover and Flex Z adds full-length adjustment on top of sixteen damping settings.
What to check before ordering
Replace across an axle rather than corner by corner, and book the alignment for after the work rather than before. On a Mazda 3 the detail worth checking is the rear: the hatchback and saloon differ there despite sharing a front end, so matching on generation alone can still land you the wrong rear damper.
Common questions for this chassis
Is Bilstein available for the Mazda 3? Not currently. This page is Tein throughout.
Will BL parts fit a BM? No — treat the generations as separate cars.
Springs or coilovers for a daily car? S.Tech springs, provided the dampers are sound.
