Which variants this covers
The W205 generation ran from 2014 to 2021 across four body styles: the W205 saloon, the S205 estate, the C205 coupé and the A205 cabriolet. Rear-wheel-drive and 4MATIC cars are both included and take different front components. Cars ordered with Airmatic or adaptive damping differ again from passive cars. For other C-Class generations, use C-Class suspension.
Choosing between the ranges
This chassis is strongly weighted towards Bilstein B4, which reflects how these cars are usually served — a high-mileage W205 saloon or estate needing its original damping restored rather than changed. B4 does exactly that: OE-comparable, standard height, original springs retained. Bilstein B6 is stocked as the firmer option at the same ride height for drivers who want more body control without lowering the car. To lower it, Tein S.Tech springs work with the original dampers, while Tein Street Advance Z and Flex Z coilovers replace both and allow ride height to be set directly. Bilstein B12 kits and B8 dampers are not currently listed for the W205.
What to check before ordering
Front and rear are separate listings; fit in axle pairs and align the car afterwards. Strut bearings and protection kits are worth renewing with the struts. The W205-specific caveat is the damping system: cars built with Airmatic or the adaptive damping option cannot take passive replacements, and the option was widely specified on this generation — check your build before ordering rather than assuming passive struts.
Common questions for this chassis
How do I tell if my W205 has adaptive damping? Check the build specification or the selector switch for drive modes that alter suspension firmness.
Do saloon and estate share rear dampers? Not reliably — the S205 estate carries different rear parts. Select your body style.
Can I lower a W205 without coilovers? Yes, with S.Tech springs on healthy dampers.
