Which models this covers

Hatches, saloons, estates and the Caddy and transporter vans are all included, in front-wheel drive and 4MOTION. Deeper pages exist for the Golf, Polo, Passat, Tiguan and Caddy, plus the Golf Mk7 generation. Sports suspension and DCC adaptive damping change the part numbers again.

Choosing between the ranges

Volkswagen is the make best served for complete kits — Bilstein B12 is almost as deep as the individual damper ranges, pairing shortened dampers with matched lowering springs so the two are designed together. At standard height, Bilstein B4 is the OE-comparable replacement and Bilstein B6 the firmer option for a GTI or R that has softened. Tein EnduraPro is the alternative to B6, with EnduraPro Plus adding 16 damping levels. Bilstein B8 is shortened and belongs only on a car already lowered by roughly 30–40 mm. Tein S.Tech springs lower a car on healthy dampers, and B14, B16, Street Advance Z and Flex Z cover adjustable height.

What to check before ordering

Buy front and rear separately and fit in axle pairs. Strut support bearings and protection kits are a large part of this catalogue for good reason — on VW hatchbacks they typically wear out before the dampers do. Align afterwards. The VW caveat: 4MOTION cars use a multi-link rear axle where most front-wheel-drive cars use a torsion beam, so rear parts are not interchangeable between them.

Common questions for this make

Does my car have DCC? If a driving-mode selector changes suspension firmness, it does — and passive dampers are not a direct swap.

Do GTI and standard cars share dampers? Often not. Sports suspension has its own part numbers.

Simplest way to lower a Golf? S.Tech springs if the dampers are healthy, a B12 kit if they are not.
