Which models this covers
Hatches, saloons, Sportbacks and Avant estates are covered, in front-wheel drive and quattro. Deeper pages exist for the A4, A3 and A6, plus the A4 B9 and A3 8V generations specifically. Chassis codes rather than model names decide fitment, and S line sports suspension changes the part numbers again.
Choosing between the ranges
Bilstein B4 is the largest group and the OE-comparable choice: standard height, original springs, factory ride restored. Bilstein B6 is firmer at the same height for sharper body control. Bilstein B12 is well represented and supplies shortened dampers with matched lowering springs as one package — the cleanest way to lower an Audi without mismatching parts. Tein EnduraPro and EnduraPro Plus cover OE height from the Tein side, the Plus adding 16 damping levels. Bilstein B8 is shortened and suits only cars already lowered by about 30–40 mm. Tein S.Tech springs lower a standard car on its own dampers, and B16, B14, Street Advance Z and Flex Z allow ride height to be set.
What to check before ordering
Front and rear are separate parts; replace in axle pairs, renew strut support bearings and protection kits with them, and align the car afterwards. The Audi caveat is drivetrain: quattro cars use a different rear axle arrangement from front-wheel-drive cars, so rear components are not interchangeable, and Avant rear parts differ from the saloon. Confirm body and drivetrain together with the chassis code.
Common questions for this make
How do I find my chassis code? It follows the generation — 8P and 8V for the A3, 8D through 8W for the A4. Use the vehicle selector rather than the model year alone.
Can I fit B8 to a standard car? No — it is shortened for cars already lowered 30–40 mm.
Do quattro and FWD share rear dampers? No. Confirm drivetrain first.
